The Garden

I finally did it.  I finally took the time to plant a garden.  When we moved in there were raised beds in the side yard.  I just needed to take the time to do something with it.  First I went to the Dixieline sale and picked up some planting mix.

My wonderful neighbor donated some tomato plants to me and I purchased some greens from the farmers market.

First I went through and pulled out all the weeds in the beds and tilled the soil plus added some of the fresh plantin gmix.

Then I put the new plants in.  Josh and I then attached chicken wire around the outside to protect the plants from animals.  Then we set up a watering system and ta da!

The lettuce turned out a little bitter because it's too hot in our area but the greens are good and the tomatoes are looking great.

Anna and Jack

We don't have any dogs and sometimes I wish we did and other times I think, am I crazy.  Then I realize I have close friends with dogs.  Anna and Jack are our niece and nephew dog?  They love us and we love them.  Josh and Tania were gone for the weekend so we hung out with the two.  We even brought them over to hang out here at the house for a while.  This photo was taken a few weeks earlier when I was over chilling with the dogs for the day.  They can be such sweethearts.

They can be so cute.  Dogsitting.

One Less Ovary - from when I was home healing

For years now I've had off and on pain in my left side.  I've been tested for many things and they have never really figured out what it is from.  Over the last few months the pain got worse and they discovered I had a cyst on my left ovary.  The cyst was getting bigger so they decided to remove it.  The doctor suggested since I'd been having pain in that side that I just have the whole ovary removed.  So a little over a week ok I went for Laproscopic surgery.  They removed my left ovary, removed some endometriosis from my right ovary and removed some from the ligament that attaches to my right ovary.  Well the surgery hit me a LOT harder than I thought.  I have had quite a bit of pain in the right side.  It's been hard keeping myself from doing anything.  I like to move and get around and right now I'm not allowed to.  So I've been trying my best at bed rest and have had friends visiting and picking me up.  Of course the cats have loved this time with me.  I think I'm spoiling them right now.

I woke up this morning and all three of them were asleep on me.  They never get to do that.
Plus I've had other little friends.  While over at Josh and Tania's Bacon came over to say hi.  I will apologize now for the fact that the video is upside down.  I'll figure out how to turn it around eventually, maybe.

Really, that long?

Yeah, I've been away.  I had an ovary removed.  Then I got a cold.  Then I bought a car.  That's about the right order of things.  I did have fun in between those times and plan on sharing that fun.  Until then I guess I could show you other things.  Such as my friend's home that his neighbor's car decided to park on, the roof that is.  I still have not heard the whole story but I guess his neighbor accidentally drove the wrong way on his driveway and ended up on my friend's roof.  I believe as of now the roof has been fixed after a bunch of insurance crap.  Always an exciting day it is.

Going for a Hike

The weather has been beautiful so we took advantage and went for a new hike.  We decided to check out Hollenbeck Canyon and Patty and the dogs joined us.  The morning was perfect for a hike.  Since it's been raining everything was green.

There was little water still on the ground but the dogs were still able to find what there was.

Katie and Gene's Visit

At the end of February Katie and Gene came to visit.  It was wonderful to get to spend a long weekend with good friends.  It was kind of bittersweet too, all of the time in Ocean Beach.  We went to breakfast at the "Hot Food Place", walked down to the beach and bumped into both James and Ryan.

We had some oyster shooters at South Beach.  Said hi to some peeps at REI and of course I ended up buying something.  Saturday night we had a little get together at our home since both Katie and Tish were in town.

We spent the rest of the day in OB checking out the antique shops and going back to South Beach.  Sadly I didn't get to enjoy the second time at South Beach since I had a bad reaction to something I ate.  Luckily Steve and Leah live nearby so I took advantage to purge whatever was bothering me which made me feel immediately better.  On Monday Gene and Katie enjoyed a day to themselves and Tuesday I took them for a little hike behind our home.

And I finally got some pictures of the beautiful hike behind our house.
